Job Summary

The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes, ensuring the bank attracts, develops, and retains top talent to achieve its mission and objectives. This role includes strategic planning, operational management, and employee engagement to foster a positive and productive workplace culture.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

HR Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the bank’s overall objectives.
  • Conduct workforce planning to ensure optimal staffing levels.


Talent Acquisition & Retention

  • Lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to attract and integrate skilled professionals.
  • Design retention strategies, including employee satisfaction surveys and retention programs.


Training & Development

  • Identify training needs and organize learning opportunities for professional development.
  • Implement leadership development programs for high-potential employees.


Performance Management

  • Oversee performance appraisal systems to drive accountability and results.
  • Ensure regular feedback and support mechanisms for employee growth.


Policy Development & Compliance

  • Formulate, review, and implement HR policies and procedures in compliance with Ghanaian labour laws.
  • Ensure adherence to banking industry regulations and standards.


Employee Relations

  • Act as a liaison between employees and management to resolve conflicts.
  • Promote diversity, equity, gender and inclusion across the organization.


HR Administration & Analytics:

  • Manage payroll, leave administration, and employee records.
  • Use HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making and improve processes.


Budgeting

  • Prepare and manage the HR department’s annual budget.


Strategic Planning:

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Participating in strategic planning discussions.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall Bank’s strategy


Health and Safety:

  • Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. Implementing health and safety policies and procedures and promoting employee well-being.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Design and manage fair and competitive compensation and benefits programs.
  • Regularly review salary structures to ensure equity and competitiveness.


Supervisory Role

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise HR Officers and administrative staff.
  • Delegate tasks effectively while ensuring team productivity and accountability.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: At least 5 years experience in HR management, with a preference for candidates from the banking or financial sector.


Technical Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of Ghanaian labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in HR software and tools.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence organizational culture.
  • Professional Membership: Certification or membership in a recognized HR professional body (e.g., CIHRM) is an advantage.


Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position based at the bank’s headquarters.
  • Occasional travel to branch locations and rural communities covering the bank’s operational areas as required.
  • Flexible work hours may be necessary to meet deadlines or attend to urgent operational issues.
