Head, Financial Market Operations

Summary:

To support and effectively manage the financial market activities of the Bank relating to Fixed Income and Money Market operations, FX trading services and Custody operations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of guidelines and implementation of Foreign Exchange, Money Market and Fixed Income deals in line with the policy guide.
• Oversee the processing of Foreign Exchange, Money Market and Fixed Income deals in accordance with procedures as laid down in the standard operating manual and to ensure that standards as defined in key control areas are always maintained.
• Oversee that all post-settlement reconciliations issues as identified are investigated and resolved efficiently.
• Oversee that the Fixed Income, Money Market and Funding Operations are adapted to changes in the business and regulatory environment in a timely fashion.
• Develop and maintain internal and external relationships with counterparty banks.
• Oversee the processing of all custodial requests within agreed timelines and provide service support to fund managers and trustees.
• Drive process review, simplification and innovation within the team and participate in the Bank's digitization initiatives (esp in the retail t-bill space).
• Ensure constant review of procedures and controls are in place for all financial market operation processes.
• Constant monitoring of the risk environment within Financial Market Operations and report same to management especially operational risk activities.
• Maintain and develop new processes/applications and ideas to enhance the Treasury processes and service including Treasury Cash Management, Nostro Reconciliations and Broker/exchange cash reconciliations.
• Work closely with Financial Control to substantiate general ledgers of the Bank.
• Provide a high level of technical and operational leadership including ongoing support and expertise for complex processes and applications to all colleagues. 
• Work closely with management to review and identify team's training needs and advise on appropriate development/ career opportunities.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate all colleagues within the chain of command by ensuring frequent and timely delivery of all performance feedback.
• Develop relevant monthly operational reports to management on financial market operations activities.
