Role Overview - Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager (BDM) leads the sales strategy of FIAKare, the capacity building and innovation hub of Farming In Africa. You will build a high-performing team and oversee all aspects of acquiring new clients and fostering long-term beneficial partnerships. Some of the key products you will be positioning include; Trainings, Farm Set Ups, Veterinary Support, Farm Management Consultancy in the livestock industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with FiaKare's overall goals.
  • Set individual and team targets, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback on sales performance with team members.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities in the livestock farming sector.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with potential clients, including farmers, investors, and agricultural businesses.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to understand industry trends and identify high-potential markets.
  • Develop a clear understanding of FiaKare's solutions and their benefits to the livestock farming industry.
  • Build and motivate sales teams to ensure targets are achieved or exceeded.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling proposals and presentations that effectively showcase FiaKare's offerings.
  • Negotiate and close mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Manage and nurture existing client relationships, fostering long-term collaborations and repeat business.
  • Track and analyze sales activities and performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior management.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and best practices in livestock farming.
  • Identify and implement strategies to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Ensure resources are allocated effectively to maximize sales results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business development or sales management, preferably within the agricultural sector.
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating teams to achieve ambitious sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • A deep understanding of the livestock farming industry and its current challenges is a plus
  • Experience in developing and implementing successful business development strategies.
  • Proficient in Google Suite (Google docs, Google sheets, Google slides).
  • A passion for the agriculture industry and a desire to make a positive impact.
