Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Technical Analysis:
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and requirements for procurement purposes.
- Collaborate with engineering or operations teams to ensure purchased materials and equipment meet technical standards.
- Conduct technical assessments of suppliers and their products.
Procurement and Sourcing:
- Identify and source technical and non-technical materials, tools, equipment, and services.
- Evaluate supplier proposals based on technical specifications, cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with suppliers to achieve the best value.
Supplier and Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure reliability and quality.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, and service.
- Identify and onboard new vendors to enhance procurement efficiency.
Inventory and Logistics Coordination:
- Monitor stock levels and plan procurement to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and proper handling of goods.
- Optimize inventory management processes to improve efficiency.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of purchase orders, contracts, and vendor agreements.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities, including cost analysis and savings achieved.
Market Research and Innovation:
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market pricing.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.
- Recommend innovative solutions to meet procurement and operational needs.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, and/or Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on technical products or services.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Technical expertise to evaluate and understand machinery, equipment, or specialized materials.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Technical aptitude to understand and evaluate technical specifications.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Attributes:
- Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM).
- Experience in industries such as construction, engineering, manufacturing, or energy.
- Familiarity with technical drawings and software tools like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of compliance standards in procurement and technical operations.
