Job Summary
We are seeking a steward who will be responsible for attending to clients/guests’ needs such as welcoming clients/guests and seating them in the lounge. This role requires a personable, serviceable and professional attitude. The steward represents the firm in this role and must provide clients/guests with clean eating areas, polite assistance, and orderly setting. Must be motivated to excel at customer service and alert to all client/guest needs.

Job Description/Requirements
Steward Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet clients/guests and if needed, escort them to the lounge
- Prepare for clients and guests by cleaning and setting tables
- Serve water and beverages to clients/guests;
- Clear the lounge area as clients/guests complete their drinks in anticipation of next clients/guests;
- Ensure the partners’ kitchen is clean, well maintained and organised at all times;
- Ensure floor in the lounge is dry and clean at all times;
- Maintain a hygienic working environment in accordance with hygiene regulations and firm standards. Follow and maintain all sanitation and safety procedures;
- Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working order;
- Wash, wipe, sort, stack and store all cleaned items in an organised and safe manner;
- Report any breakages or chipped items to supervisor;
- Keep a log of all crockery, cutlery and other serving items;
- Make recommendations to management for the purchase of crockery, cutlery and other serving items, when required;
- Report any maintenance or hazard issues to the supervisor; and
- Assists in opening/closing doors and other official duties as required.
Requirements
- Must be honest, polite and courteous to all clients/guests;
- Must have initiative
- Must be patient, respectful and helpful when assisting clients/guests
- Expected to work well as part of a team and on individual tasks;
- Excellent at verbal and written communication;
- Must be neat, well dressed and discreet
- Must have the ability to work efficiently under pressure;
- Maintains the kitchen, lounge and related areas in an inspection-ready condition; and
- Preferably male.
Qualifications
- Minimum of YMCA vocational certificate or equivalent
- Minimum of two years relevant work experience in a hotel, restaurant or general hospitality services.
