Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Prepare and position patients for ultrasound examinations.
- Explain the procedure to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and provide compassionate care during the examination process.
Ultrasound Imaging:
- Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, vascular, and small parts imaging.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring that images are captured with optimal clarity and accuracy.
- Adjust equipment settings and patient positioning as necessary to obtain the best possible images.
Image Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze images and provide preliminary findings to the radiologist.
- Ensure that accurate and complete documentation is maintained for each examination, including patient information, procedure details, and any observations made.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and recommendations.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine checks on ultrasound equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including infection control and safety protocols.
- Stay updated with current best practices in sonography and participate in continuing education and professional development.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other members of the radiology department and healthcare team.
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff, students, and interns as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical setting.
Skills:
- Proficient in the operation of ultrasound equipment.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
