Job Summary
- To manage and sustain a portfolio of SME customers, building long-term relationships founded on efficient and reliable support for their business. This is achieved particularly through quick risk decisions and managing consistency and quality of operational service.
- The primary objective is to maximize sustainable risk-adjusted portfolio contribution.
- The jobholder will additionally be responsible for business development both with new customers and with his/her existing portfolio.

Time Split
Sales and Service 60%
Outputs:
Acquisitions and relationship management:
- Identify and acquire fully funded and transactional new SME customers through targeted sales strategies.
- Develop and maintain strong long-term relationships with existing and new SME customers within assigned portfolio with the aim of increasing wallet-share and client profitability.
- Understand the specific needs of customers and provide customised financial solutions.
Sales And Business Development:
- Achieve sales targets and contribute to the overall growth of the SME business.
- Promote and cross-sell the bank’s product and services including credit facilities,
deposits, bancassurance, forex, trade, digital solutions, and retail products.
- Stay close to customers through regular visits (minimum of 20 visits on monthly basis).
Customer Service And Support:
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customers enquiries and resolving their issues promptly.
- Conduct regular client reviews to identify opportunities for additional support.
Time Split
Business Management 25%
Outputs:
- Assess the credit worthiness of SME clients, prepare detailed credit proposal for consideration by the credit team.
- Ensure that all relevant documents required for annual review reach the credit team on time.
- Monitor and control the quality of the portfolio using “Condition of Sanction” triggers
where possible and in line with credit policy.
- Ensure Non-Performing Loan ratio does not exceed 5%.
Risk & Control Time Split 10%
Outputs:
- Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Bank Limited Policies and Policy Standards
- Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.
Time Split
Staff Management 5%
Outputs:
- Day-to-day coaching and co-ordination of Corporate Support staff in provision of consistent service quality and risk.
Technical skills / Competencies
- Ability to relate and influence stakeholders at all levels.

- Product knowledge: Lending, Cash management, Treasury and Trade
- Demonstrated ability in both written and spoken communication

- Good knowledge in credit procedures, monitoring and financial analysis
Knowledge, Expertise And Experience
- Has a good knowledge in corporate lending especially to multinationals.
- Knowledgeable in Trade transactions and its associated processes.
- Have a minimum 3 years’ experience in client facing role.
- The jobholder will be required to have a detailed knowledge of the core set of corporate products.
- Proven track record in sales.
- Excellent understanding of credit and associated risks
- Analytical skills for preparing credit applications
- Acquaintance with Windows, Excel, Power Point, Word
- A university degree or its equivalent.

Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
