Job Title: Infrastructure and Site Reliability Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure and Site Reliability Engineer (ISRE) to support our growing infrastructure and telephony integration projects across Africa. This position will focus on building, deploying, managing, and maintaining physical and cloud-based server infrastructure to support CLIENT'S telephony systems and other critical services. The ideal candidate will have expertise in telephony systems like Free Switch and Asterisk, as well as robust Linux and cloud platform management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Server and Infrastructure Management

• Build, deploy, and maintain physical servers in colocation centers across Africa.
• Manage Linux-based cloud Virtual Private Servers (VPS) in high-availability environments.
• Ensure the security, integrity, and uptime of critical infrastructure.

Telephony Systems Management

• Configure and manage telephony systems, specifically FreeSwitch and Asterisk.
• Set up and integrate SIP and PSTN connections, including E1 interfaces for telephony services.
• Maintain high performance and reliability of telephony systems through regular integration and maintenance.

Networking

• Design, implement, and manage secure networks, including VPNs and VLANs.
• Optimize network performance and scalability, while adhering to security best practices.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot network issues to ensure smooth operations.

Cloud Platform Management

• Provision and manage AWS services such as EC2, S3, and VPC; Azure experience is a plus.
• Develop and maintain cloud-based solutions to improve operational efficiency and scalability.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or similar role with a focus on telephony systems and infrastructure management.
• Strong Linux/Unix administration background.
• Expertise in telephony systems (FreeSwitch, Asterisk) with experience in SIP and PSTN/E1 integrations.
• Proficient in networking technologies (VPNs, VLANs) and network security best practices.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and containerization.
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
• Willingness to travel to colocation centers across Africa as needed.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with telephony hardware, such as Sangoma cards, is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
