Job Summary
This role reports to the Head of Sales and is responsible for actively providing focus in business direction through planning and driving financial performance, business management, performance management and elaborate MI processes in the CIB Corporate segment and the management of related market risks.
The incumbent is expected to operate with business flair, risk awareness and actively contribute towards the overall business strategy of CIB Markets.
The incumbent is implicitly aligned with CIB Corporate but also carries responsibilities for Markets Sales activities either directly or through internal interface with all stakeholders
Among others, the role holder will:
Be responsible for all pricing formulation and execution relating to Markets Sales as well as provide timely and competitive pricing.
Become the preferred point of contact both externally and internally for Markets Sales activities
Become the bridge between the interests of Corporate clients, and the market place for FX products, strategies and structured solutions
Explore and define the business opportunities in the Markets Sales function
Job Description
Strategy Formulation and implementation Management: Time split : 40%
Outputs:
Drives strategy formulation and delivery through formal qualitative and quantitative analytics, problem framing, value chain assessments and market opportunity identification.
Support Head of Sales in the delivery of an aligned business strategy that takes account of financial performance, balance sheet & risk management and attainment of required goals and objectives on Sales Desk.
Continuously monitor the overall Business Performance of the CIB Corporate Sales Desk to advise the Head of Sales of any possible deviations and the actions that have been created by other business units to address.
Specific responsibility for Strategic Business Development and Planning in the CIB Corporate FX segment
Support Head of Sales to achieve Customer service standards/experience and building Absa Markets profile/reputation within the country and sub-region whilst maintaining strong business relationships in and outside Absa.
Identify and assist in unlocking strategic issues in the client sales segments
Research and Market intelligence: Time split : 10%
Output:
Be a key source for industry intelligence data across various disciplines including industry evolution analysis and competitive dynamics.
Promote the expansion and penetration of CIB Markets products into customers and expand the customer base
Sales: Time Split : 35%
Output:
Develop close contact with CIB Corporate Relationship Managers, Branch Managers, and customers
Meet the various volume and profitability targets as set
Drafting of CIB Corporate Banking FX strategy plan and contribute to the overall annual Markets Sales Business plan
Maintain and increase wallet share of existing clients’ business year on year
Develop and maintain a strong daily inflow pipeline of transactions to meet CIB Corporate banking client demand.
Recruit Absa Markets FX inflow clients.
Embark on Customer visits and customer calls. This should be evidence by Call reports and phone call plans.
Participate and address issues that might arise from weekly CIB Corporate Banking meetings
Attend fortnightly meetings with stakeholders (CIB Markets, Treasury, Ops, PCG, Market Risk) and contribute effectively
Work with CIB Corporate Relationship Mangers to develop and implement Account Plans.
Increase no. of active Customers with Direct Dealing Mandates in portfolio.
Onboard top clients on Direct Dealing
Call reports on all customer visits to be completed and shared within 48 hours after visit and follow up actions.
Maintain and manage an excellent relationship with all internal counterparties [ Finance, Treasury Ops, Middle Office, Commercial, Retail, etc]
Team Work & Self-Management: Time split: 10%
Output:
Independently interact and collaborate with senior level stakeholders in the functions and business
Take an active and leadership role in problem solving especially in aspects that are likely to impact (positively or negatively) strategy implementation.
Maintain constant contact with key stakeholders (PCG, MR and Finance) to ensure income is appropriately realised and accrued
Any other duties that will be assigned from time to time by the Head of Sales
Risk and Control Time split : 5%
Output:
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards

Required Prior Training
Completion of ACI dealer’s certificate
Educational Background & Work Experience
Basic requirements - A degree holder with appreciation for numerical and statistical analysis
Preferably a Master’s Degree holder in Finance or a related field e.g. Economics, Business, Commerce, etc
Basic level ACI diploma
Minimum 3years banking experience 3 of which should have been in a trading environment;

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
