Job Summary
FAWE Ghana is seeking to hire a highly motivated Safeguarding Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and ensuring the welfare and safety of staff within the organization, the community and students on our projects. The role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safeguarding policies and procedures as well as providing guidance, support and training to staff, students and stakeholders

Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Policies Development and Implementation
- Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every action in FAWE Ghana.
- Develop and Implement safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislations and best practice
- Ensure the safety of team members from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve FAWE Ghana’s safeguarding goals.
Safeguarding Training
- Act as a resource of support and expertise on safeguarding to establish a safe working environment for all within the FAWE Ghana family and its partners.
- Holds the team and partners accountable for delivering on their responsibilities—giving them the freedom to offer in the best way they see fit, providing the necessary development to improve performance, and applying appropriate consequences when results are not achieved.
- Organize periodic training on Safeguarding to staff, project partners and participants to equip them with the requisite knowledge to respond to Safeguarding concerns
Monitoring and Report on Safeguarding Events
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident occurs and encourage others to do so.
Network and Collaboration:
- Liase with external partners, team members and other stakeholders to ensure collaboration on safeguarding matters
- Partner with Law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders on matters of safeguarding to ensure that incidents, concerns and allegations are properly investigated and addressed
Data Collection:
- Maintain accurate data on safeguarding incidents, concerns and allegations as well as trainings organized for staff, participants and stakeholders of the project
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Sociology or Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Community Development or other relevant field of study (a Master degree will be an added advantage).
- Five years’ experience in program design and implementation, in a similar role, will be an added advantage preferably in an NGO setting.
- Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing the safeguarding policy and standard.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently.
- Strong ability to work with partners using effective interpersonal and communication and active listening skills and to respectfully interact with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
