Job Summary
The Recovery Officer is responsible for the collection of debts prior to legal recovery proceedings commencing, negotiating payments/payment arrangements, handling debtor enquiries and provides administrative assistance to the team.

Job Description/Requirements
Department: Credit
Reports Directly to: General Manager
Recovery officer is expected to:
- Be responsible for direct collection of delinquent loans and paying recovered sums into the delinquent customer's account
- Monitoring of repayments through the field officers and reconciling differences in clients repayment log books and on the server
- Liaise with the credit officers to identify current and potential credit risks and develop suitable mitigation/prevention strategies
- Renegotiating and reschedule of default loan repayment with default loan clients for effective payments upon client’s request.
- Preparation and serving notice of default
- Monitoring, extension and booking of notice of default in the collateral registry platform.
- Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly recovery reports
- To ensure efficient follow-up of severe cases of arrears of loans repayment
- Prepare a plan to prevent and cope with credit risk and other related operational risks to ensure good quality loan portfolios.
- Ensure monthly loan recovery work plan has been firmly designed and implemented
- Analyze delinquent accounts and prepare report on highest risk accounts including recommendations for resolution
- Conduct frequent and surprise visits to default clients and guarantors premises/work places.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the General Manager from time to time.

Positions Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Competencies
Educational
- Minimum HND in accountancy, marketing, management & general administration
Other Competencies
- Must understand and agree with WML Mission, Vision and core values.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills;
- Must have excellent negotiation and problem solving skills, strong math skills
- Familiarity with receipt and handling of cash
- Must be very organized in order to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
- Able to manage and lead staff
- Demonstrate high level of ethical commitment and trustworthiness
