Postdoctoral Researcher

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) with funding through a Grand Challenges Canada (GCC) Grant: ENCOMPAS Project is pleased to announce the following research opportunities for interested and highly qualified candidates to apply.

Post Summary and Duties 

The Postdoc role will support the full implementation of the Enhance community-health system communication and knowledge improvements for pregnancy and newborn care using AI tailored solutions (ENCOMPAS) in two districts of Ghana: Wa West and Mamprugu Moagduri Districts in the Upper West and Northeast Regions respectively. The Postdoc will be hosted within the School of Graduate Studies and work across other departments where required. The post location will be in Ho, Volta Region with frequent travels to project regions/districts.

The Postdoc is expected to perform the following responsibilities on the ENCOMPAS Project

1.     Coordinate baseline data collection and end-phase evaluation activities on project.

2.     Undertake supervision and monitoring in the project districts quarterly where required.

3.     Ensure sound technical and financial reporting for all field activities on the project.

4.     Draft manuscripts, policy briefs and other dissemination outputs required during the course of the project.

5.     Participate actively in grant writing workshop activities.

6.     Supervise research assistants, and other project staff in the field.

7.     Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the PI.

Skills and Requirements

·      PhD in Health Policy and Planning, Health Economics or Health Management related discipline preferred. PhD should have been obtained not more than 5 years from date of application.

·      Minimum of six years in an active work environment with growth over the period.

·      Demonstrable experience of publications in peer-reviewed journals, with minimum of 3 publications. 

·      Experience in teaching and supervision at the tertiary level is an advantage. 

·      Cultural competency, collaborative, and exercise sound judgement.

·      Good writing, conceptualization, and presentation skills.
