1.             JOB PURPOSE:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure and efficient network infrastructure tailored to meet the needs of our growing digital banking platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and optimizing networks, with a focus on security, performance, and scalability to support financial transactions and data flow in a regulated environment.

2.             KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

●               Technical/Operations duties

●               Design, configure, and implement network infrastructure to ensure optimal connectivity, security, and performance within the bank’s digital ecosystem.

●               Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN appliances.

●               Ensure network security by configuring and managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and encryption protocols.

●               Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions that meet the bank’s needs for scalability, reliability, and security.

●               Regularly assess and upgrade network infrastructure to stay ahead of technology advancements and security threats.

●               Conduct routine network performance analysis and implement improvements to ensure the highest levels of uptime and customer experience.

●               Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies related to network security and data privacy.

●               Provide technical support and guidance to other teams on network-related issues.

●               Develop and maintain network documentation and diagrams.

●               Provide recommendations for network capacity, load balancing, and disaster recovery strategies.

●               Perform regular backups and disaster recovery drills to ensure business continuity.

1.             Network Uptime and Availability:

●               Target: Achieve 99.9% or higher network uptime.

●               Measure: Monitor and report network availability on a monthly basis.

2.             Incident Response and Resolution Time:

●               Target: Resolve critical network issues within 30 minutes; non-critical issues within 2 hours.

●               Measure: Track the average response and resolution time for network incidents.

3.             Network Security Compliance:

●               Target: Maintain 100% compliance with relevant security standards (e.g., PCI DSS, ISO 27001).

●               Measure: Regular audits and assessments of the network to ensure adherence to security protocols.

4.             Network Performance Optimization:

●               Target: Achieve optimal network performance with minimal latency and high throughput.

●               Measure: Use monitoring tools to track network performance metrics and report on any areas of improvement.

5.             Project Delivery Time:

●               Target: Complete network infrastructure projects within agreed timelines.

●               Measure: Monitor project deadlines and milestones, ensuring timely completion without compromising quality.

6.             System Downtime Due to Network Issues:

●               Target: Limit network-related system downtime to less than 0.1% annually.

●               Measure: Record and track instances of downtime caused by network failures or issues.

7.             Network Security Incidents and Breaches:

●               Target: Zero security breaches or major network security incidents.

●               Measure: Track the number and severity of security incidents, aiming for a reduction over time.

8.             End-User Satisfaction with Network Performance:

●               Target: Achieve 90% or higher satisfaction from internal users regarding network performance and support.

●               Measure: Gather feedback from internal stakeholders through surveys or user feedback tools.

9.             Documentation and Network Design Updates:

●               Target: Ensure network documentation is up-to-date and accurate, with quarterly reviews and updates.

●               Measure: Track the timeliness and accuracy of network documentation and design diagrams.

10.          Cost Efficiency and Budget Adherence:

●               Target: Stay within budget for network-related projects and operational costs.

●               Measure: Monitor project expenses and compare them to budget forecasts, ensuring cost-efficiency.

3               COMPETENCIES

1.             Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.), routing, and switching technologies.

2.             Experience with networking hardware and software (Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik, etc.).

3.             Expertise in network security technologies, including VPN, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SSL.

4.             Understanding of cloud-based network architectures and hybrid networks.

5.             Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools and systems (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios).

6.             Knowledge of financial industry regulations (PCI DSS, ISO 27001) and how they impact network infrastructure.

7.             Experience in designing secure networks for financial institutions, including multi-site and disaster recovery solutions.

8.             Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

9.             Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

10.          Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

●                Qualification

●               Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field.

●               Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification (CCNP, etc.) preferred.

●               At least 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on security and financial institutions.

●               Experience with financial network infrastructure (e.g., ATMs, payment processing networks) is a plus.
