MODERN TRADE MANAGER (FMCG – PEANUTS)

COUNTRY – GHANA

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO:

General Manager/ Regional Sales Manager

1               JOB PURPOSE:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies, managing key accounts, and fostering strong relationships with modern retail chains,melcoms, supermarkets, and hypermarkets to maximize sales performance and brand presence.

1.             KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

●              Technical/Operations duties

●               Oversee inventory management and ensure stock replenishment at modern trade outlets.


●               Implement planogram strategies to optimize shelf space and enhance product visibility.

●               Monitor competitor activities and pricing trends within modern trade channels.


●               Ensure compliance with all trade agreements, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.


●               Develop sales forecasting models to improve demand planning and reduce stockouts.


●               Manage promotional execution, ensuring marketing materials and in-store activations are effectively implemented.


●               Coordinate with logistics and distribution teams to maintain timely product deliveries and minimize disruptions.


●               Utilize data analytics tools to track sales performance, customer preferences, and emerging market trends.


●               Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and optimize costs.




●               Supervisory duties

1.             Lead and mentor a team of sales representatives and account managers to achieve performance targets.

2.             Conduct regular training and coaching sessions to enhance team capabilities.

3.             Set clear objectives and performance expectations for team members.

4.             Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback and support for improvement.

5.             Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures among the sales team.

6.             Foster a positive work environment and team collaboration to drive overall business success.

6.             Compliance & Execution: Adherence to agreed trade terms, promotions, and brand guidelines.

●                Qualification

●               Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.

●               3+ years of experience in modern trade sales, preferably within the FMCG (food) industry.

●               Strong understanding of the modern trade landscape, including retail operations and key account management.

●               Proven experience in negotiation, business development, and trade marketing.

●               Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

●               Ability to lead a team and work cross-functionally with different departments.

●               Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and sales tracking tools.

●               Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.

●               Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales or business development, with at least 1-2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
