Mechanical Technician

Responsibilities:

Installation & Maintenance:

• Install, assemble, and commission different types of pumps and compressors, including centrifugal, reciprocating, rotary, and diaphragm pumps.
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
• Perform routine lubrication, alignment, and calibration of pumps and compressors.
• Inspect mechanical components for wear and tear, replacing parts as necessary.

Troubleshooting & Repairs:

• Diagnose faults and malfunctions in pumps and compressors using diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble mechanical components, including seals, bearings, impellers, and rotors.
• Replace defective or worn-out parts, such as valves, pistons, cylinders, and gaskets.
• Conduct pressure and performance testing after repairs to ensure functionality.

Technical Analysis & Documentation:

• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to understand system layouts and specifications.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts replacements for record-keeping and reporting.
• Provide detailed reports on faults, corrective actions taken, and recommendations for system improvements.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure all work adheres to industry safety standards and company protocols.
• Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when working on high-risk equipment.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections before starting maintenance work.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to housekeeping standards.

Collaboration & Support:

• Work closely with engineers, maintenance teams, and production staff to minimize downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians when required.
• Assist in training operators on proper equipment usage and basic troubleshooting techniques.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Certifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
• Certification in Pump & Compressor Maintenance is an added advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, specifically with pumps and compressors.
• Proven experience with industrial pumps (centrifugal, reciprocating, rotary, diaphragm, etc.) and compressors (piston, screw, centrifugal, rotary vane, etc.).

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical failures and implement effective solutions.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
• Experience in alignment, vibration analysis, and balancing of rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of bearings, seals, gaskets, valves, and piping systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to work onsite, in industrial environments, and in field locations as needed.
• Physical ability to handle heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  
• Availability for on-call emergency maintenance and willingness to work flexible hours if required.
