Job Summary
• The successful candidate will join the Finance Department as the Head for Financial Reporting. (S)He will report to the Chief Finance Officer and will be responsible for ensuring sound financial and accounting practice to accurately capture all the transactions in the correct amounts and formats as they occur.
• A key aspect of this role is ensuring compliance with AT’s accounting policies and international financial reporting standards. The Head, financial Reporting will also ensure all required reporting, both statutory and group is completed accurately and on time, providing information that is suitable for management control purposes.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate the country consolidation activities and work with both regional and local finance personnel to resolve issues.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with both statutory and Group requirements for management control purposes and audit.
• Produce value-adding variance analysis and commentary for all financial statements to inform management decision-making.
• Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis team in preparing budgets and forecasts for the local businesses.
• Review Journal entries, accrual and prepayment positions to ensure transactions are accurately captured.
• Ensure schedules and reconciliations are prepared to ensure every account on Trial Balance is understood and explained.
• Review intercompany processes to improve transaction monitoring and eliminations.
• Perform high-level complex accounting processes and calculations, i.e. leases, asset swaps, revenue recognition under multiple-arrangement elements etc.
• Lead and manage the periodic (monthly, quarterly and annual) closing of finance sub-processes, i.e., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Inventory subsystems.
• Coordinate the Company’s annual audit with the external auditors.
• Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring of company accounting policies to improve clarity and consistency, in line with IFRS.
• Create and maintain calendar and Checklist to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for the following processes: financial close, Statutory Accounts Filing.
• Perform continuous assessment of the month-end close process and process improvements throughout finance and accounting operations.
• Improve operational efficiency by driving various projects in the company.
• Assisting in various departmental projects.
• Coach and develop Finance and Accounting Staff.
• Champion best practices in use of the ERP system, for instance extensive use of modules instead of GL.

Qualification Required & Experience
• A bachelor’s degree from a recognized University with emphasis in Economics, Accounting or related fields.
• 8-10 years of varied experience, 5-7 within Telecom Industry
• ACCA/CA/CPA qualified
• Should have led technical function of a smaller operation
