Job Summary

The Financial Innovation Associate will design and offer blended finance facilities that result in increased investment into low-cost private schools in Northern Ghana from local financial institutions. The role will implement USAID/Advancing Partnerships for the Improved Learning Activity.

Job Description/Requirements

Duties

  • Assist with the design and offer of blended finance solutions with the aim of accelerating the flow of capital to low-cost private schools in the region.
  • Work with the Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) to boost the ability of households to pay school fees through capacity building.
  • Assist the Senior Education Finance Advisor in designing the modalities for implementing the School Capacity Building Fund to assist schools in improving their operations and credit profile.
  • Partner with Senior Education Finance Advisor in mobilizing Financial Institution
  • Partners to invest and create market-based solutions for low cost private schools
  • Support Senior Education Finance Advisor in conducting comprehensive market research on the demand for financing in target districts.
  • Assist Senior Education Finance Advisor in designing new School Improvement Loan and School Fee Loan products for financial institutions operating in northern Ghana.
  • Support Senior Education Finance Advisor in training financial institution staff in increase their understanding of program objectives.
  • Coordinate an annual School Leadership Academy (SLA) aimed at educating and training school leaders about financial practices, benefits, processes, and requirements for accessing finance from lenders.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with USAID is required.
  • 5 years of experience in business development, relationship management, and project coordination, ideally within an investment bank, consultancy, financial institution, or other similar organization.
  • Prior experience in microfinance, development finance, and/or impact investment is desirable.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience working in a global team.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based research).
  • An understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission, vision and values of our company.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Written and verbal fluency in English. Must be able to attend & fully participate in meetings conducted in English.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Domestic travel throughout Ghana will be required, including road travel throughout Northern Ghana (30%).
  • It is possible that international travel will be required from time to time (10%).
