Job Description/Requirements
Our client, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to treatment and support for children battling cancer require an experienced Finance Officer to join their team. Reporting to the Executive Director & Board of Trustees, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing the organizations financial operations, budget, grant management and ensuring accountability and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for managing financial resources efficiently and transparently and contributing to fundraising efforts to sustain healthcare programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee budgets for organizational programs and initiatives.
- Track and manage donor funds and grants, ensuring proper allocation per grant agreements.
- Monitor adherence to financial policies, donor agreements and statutory regulations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
- Process invoices, payments and payroll while maintaining internal controls.
- Manage financial software and ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts and financial records.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure timely disbursement of funds for program activities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including donors and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with program teams to prepare financial reports for grants and donor reporting.
- Provide financial insights to support the sustainability of programs and projects.
- Support financial audits by ensuring compliance and providing necessary documentation.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, donor regulations and statutory requirements.
- Identify financial risks related to healthcare funding and propose mitigation strategies.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations, tax policies and donor compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with program managers to align financial planning with program objectives.
- Support fundraising efforts by preparing financial data for grant proposals and donor engagement.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including healthcare regulators, auditors, and tax authorities.
Requirements
- Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in financial management, preferably in a health-related non-profit.
- A professional certification (ACCA, CPA) is an added advantage.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and financial software such as QuickBooks and Xero.
- Possess strong knowledge of accounting principles, grant management and financial reporting.
- Experience working with donor-funded healthcare programs and familiarity with donor compliance requirements.
- Must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple financial responsibilities efficiently.
- Ability and willingness to raise funds to support healthcare programs.
