A leading manufacturer and distributor of soaps and other cleaning detergents in Ghana is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Export Sales Manager to lead our sales efforts in the West African region. The ideal candidate should be fluent in both English and French, with a proven track record of driving sales growth, building strong customer relationships, and navigating the complexities of the West African market. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of export processes and international trade.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy & Market Expansion:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets in the West African region.
  • Identify new business opportunities, markets, and potential clients to expand the company’s footprint.
  • Conduct market research to understand regional trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.


Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, distributors, and partners.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients in the region, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of sale to maximize profitability while maintaining customer loyalty.

Export Operations & Compliance:

  • Oversee the end-to-end export process, including order processing, documentation, and logistics coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and export/import laws in both the home country and West African markets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (logistics, finance, and legal) to ensure smooth execution of export operations.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor a team of sales representatives and support staff to achieve regional sales targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, product development, and supply chain) to align sales strategies with company objectives.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance analyses for senior management.
  • Monitor sales metrics, market trends, and customer feedback to adjust strategies as needed.

Cultural & Language Expertise:

  • Leverage fluency in English and French to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders across the region.
  • Demonstrate cultural awareness and adaptability to navigate diverse business environments in West Africa.



Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in export sales, international business development, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience working in or with the West African market, with a strong understanding of regional dynamics.
  • Experience in managing distributors, agents, and direct sales channels.
  • Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of export documentation, Incoterms, and international trade regulations.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales analytics tools.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the West African region (up to 50% travel).
  • Results-driven with a strong focus on achieving sales targets.
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to work in diverse environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Experience in FMCG, manufacturing etc.
  • Existing network of contacts and relationships in the West African market.
