Design and Production Supervisor

Responsibilities:

• Design Development: Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into detailed design specifications.
• CAD Modeling: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software including but not limited to AutoCAD and Revit to create 2D and 3D models of wood and metal structures, components, and assemblies.
• Material Selection: Recommend appropriate materials based on design requirements, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Equipment Selection and Workflow: Advise on the right workflow, equipment selection and application to ensure that production conforms to design.
• Prototyping: Develop prototypes and mock-ups to test design concepts and validate functionality.
• Design Optimization: Conduct analysis and simulations to optimize designs for structural integrity, manufacturability, and performance.
• Documentation: Prepare comprehensive design documentation including drawings, technical specifications, and bill of materials (BOM).
• Collaboration: Work closely with production and workshop teams to ensure seamless transition from design concept to fabrication.
• Quality Assurance: Perform design reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with design specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
• Production Oversight, Monitoring and Control: Oversee the entire production process
• Safety Compliance: Ensure safety policies and procedures are maintained for a safe working environment, conduct regular safety inspections and promote a culture of safety awareness.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for design innovation, process optimization, and cost reduction initiatives.

Requirements: 

• Experience: Proven experience in product or mechanical design, preferably in wood, metal fabrication or related industries.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, Inventor) and familiarity with design analysis tools.
• Knowledge: Understanding of wood and metal fabrication equipment. An understanding of wood and metal materials, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing processes.
• Creativity: Ability to conceptualize and develop innovative design solutions while considering aesthetic and functional aspects.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address design challenges and optimize performance.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail and accuracy in design documentation and specifications.
