Custom Clearance Supervisor

Responsibilities

• To direct, manage, and maintain overall customs compliance procedures to ensure that

companies operate in conformity with various rules and regulations.

• Responsible for assisting other branches on any customs queries and issues.

• Assist with any customs requirements for companywide.

• Review and issue approval or denial of clearance requests and ensure accuracy of data

release

• Collect and compile performance data on investigations and report on key performance

indicators.

• Liaise with all customers, suppliers, government agencies, freight forwarders, importers,

exporters et al as required to prepare and process Freight customs clearances.

• Arrange Import clearances in to Bond & removal from Bond for Road Freight, Sea

Freight & Air Freight if required.

• Identify opportunities for developing value added services for existing customers.

• Create, link & discharge all Customs documents

• Mentor and support less experienced staff, assisting them with queries and advise as and

when required.

• Responsible for tackling more complicated and challenging clearance processes and

addressing the more challenging issues that may arise.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Ports and shipping administration

• 3 - 5 years’ experience in customs compliance, FMCG, ICUMS

• Management experience is required.

• Experience in field clearance procedures, breakbulk cargo and clearing of large number

of containers.

• In depth knowledge of GPHA legislation and procedures

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suit.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Leadership skills and familiarity with the process and customs formalities of importing

into Ghana
