Cash-in-Transit (CIT) Officer

Responsibilities:

Cash and Valuables Transportation:

• Safely transport cash, checks, and other valuables between client locations, designated bank branches, cash centers, and the Bank of Ghana.
• Ensure secure loading and unloading of cash and valuables at collection and delivery points.
• Maintain chain-of-custody protocols to ensure accountability of all transported assets.

Adherence to Security Protocols:

• Follow all CIT security procedures to safeguard assets and personnel during transit.
• Comply with legal regulations and company policies, including the use of armored vehicles and security equipment.
• Remain vigilant to potential threats or risks during transit operations.

Communication and Reporting:

• Maintain clear communication with the operations center, providing real-time updates on status, location, and any security concerns.
• Document and report any incidents, irregularities, or delays encountered during transit.
• Complete thorough reports on each assignment, including transported cash/valuables.

Emergency Response and Risk Management:

• Respond quickly and effectively to security incidents, theft attempts, or emergencies.
• Follow established procedures for handling security threats, collaborating with law enforcement when needed.
• Exercise sound judgment when managing risks or suspicious activities encountered during transit.

Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance:

• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of armored vehicles, reporting any issues to ensure proper functionality.
• Ensure security equipment (e.g., firearms, communication devices) is fully operational and used per company guidelines.
• Maintain and report on cash counting and other equipment but are not responsible for major vehicle repairs.

Client and Customer Service:

• Professionally represent the company when interacting with clients at pickup and delivery points.
• Respond to client inquiries on CIT services with clarity and discretion.
• Maintain confidentiality in handling client funds and valuables.

Collaboration with CIT Team:

• Work closely with CIT team members, including drivers and security officers, for safe and efficient operations.
• Maintain a secure environment for team members during transit.
• Communicate effectively to coordinate tasks and ensure collective safety.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent; security training or certifications are an advantage.

Experience:

• Prior experience in cash handling, security, or CIT operations preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with high-security environments is beneficial.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of security protocols and ability to stay composed under pressure.
• Detail-oriented, able to follow instructions precisely, with strong communication skills.
• Physical fitness to handle lifting and carrying cash bags as required.
• Team player with high levels of trust and accountability.
• Valid driver’s license, with armored vehicle certification a plus.

Additional Requirements:

• Clean criminal record and ability to pass a background check.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and firearm certification (if required).
