The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in selling animal feed products and an in-depth understanding of how farmers and animal feeders can effectively mix and prepare the feed. This knowledge is essential to ensure that the feed provides the right balance of nutrients, promoting the overall health, growth, and productivity of the animals.
As part of this role, the candidate will work closely with the office team, farmers, livestock owners, and animal caretakers, providing guidance and advice on the best practices for feed preparation. They will need to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in animal nutrition, ensuring that our customers are well-informed and able to make the best decisions for their livestock.
This position involves not just selling feed, but also educating customers on how the correct feed formulation can significantly enhance animal health and productivity. Building and maintaining long-term relationships with customers will be a critical part of the job, as well as identifying new business opportunities and consistently meeting sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promote and sell animal feed products to farmers, livestock owners, and distributors.
2. Provide expert advice on the correct mixing and formulation of animal feed to maximize nutrition and health benefits for livestock.
3. Stay up-to-date on trends and developments in animal nutrition and feed formulation to educate customers effectively.
4. Conduct farm visits and provide on-site consultations to help farmers optimize feed use.
5. Build and maintain long-lasting relationships with farmers, suppliers, and distributors to generate repeat business.
6. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, while also supporting existing clients with exceptional service.
7. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure product availability and client satisfaction.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Proven experience in animal feed sales or related agricultural sales roles.
2. Strong understanding of animal nutrition and feed formulation for various types of livestock.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex information in simple terms.
4. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
5. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to offer practical solutions to farmers.
6. Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet sales targets.
7. Knowledge of the local farming community and agricultural practices is a plus.
8. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and the ability to use sales-related software tools.
