Accountant

Job Description:

• The ideal candidate will oversee our financial systems including our new web based SES (stores, expenditures and sales) system and our Waveapp online accounting system Reconciling the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
• To manage relationships with our consultant finance support, and with the Ghana Revenue Authority, including monitoring relevant legislation and GRA rules to ensure we stay up to date, compliant and aware of all relevant exemptions and incentives. Completing analysis of the employee expenditures
• Must be available to travel, for example to our production facilities and regional storerooms to carry out spot checks and audits. Managing income and expenditure accounts
• Must assist with book keeping and transaction entry by the administration team.
• Will be responsible to the Managing Director (CEO) and work closely with the Financial Controller and the whole management team.

• Lead on accounting functions: Maintaining, developing and optimising company financial processes and systems, ensuring compliance including active monitoring, ensuring outstanding credit is closely monitored and managed, carry out on-going cross-checks and reconciliations, and internal audits and physical checks.  Work closely with the management team to develop detailed company and project budgets and monitor income and expenditure against them.  Ensure safe and secure management of company cash, accounts and assets.
• Play an active part in the company management team:  be an active member of the company management team, sharing responsibility for collective decision making and ensuring that financial considerations are fully integrated into decisions and actions.

• Appropriate accountancy qualification
• At least 3 years’ experience in company accounting
• Good knowledge of Ghana’s company tax system and requirements is an advantage
• Well organised, detail orientated and also able to take an overview
• Gets others onboard/compliant
• Fluent in Twi and ideally other Ghanaian languages
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Strong analytical and report writing skills
• Supportive team player but also speaks out when seeing problems or wrongdoing
• Willing to undertake travel across Ghana including to rural areas.
