Job Summary

The Account Officer would be responsible for managing the financial operations of the firm, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting and financial operations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support the firm's financial objectives.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, billing, and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements and financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare monthly salary and other related payments.
  • Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to support decision-making and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the lawyers and administrative staff to track billable hours, expenses, and client accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client billing records, ensuring prompt and accurate invoicing.
  • Reconcile client payment and accounts receivable balances to ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Responsible for timely entry of financial transaction into the accounting system
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly Management report
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and tax filings, working closely with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the firm's assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders on financial matters, including budgeting, expense management, cost analysis and financial trends.
  • Any other tasks as may be required by Management.


Skills / Competence Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Effective communication with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing problems
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in all financial matters.
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy in all work tasks
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in accounting or financial management roles, preferably within a legal or professional services firm.
