When you plan very well and follow your plans strategically, then you are well on your way to success. One of the key marks of successful people is that they plan at every stage of their lives.

1. Reflect and Review the Outgoing Year (2021)
Over the course of the year, a lot of things have happened. You tried a lot of things, especially in your job search amidst Covid-19. Congratulations for fighting so well in 2021. It has been one of the toughest years for almost everyone both in Ghana and beyond.
But, as we approach 2022, it is important to sit back and reflect on what happened, identify your mistakes, your gains and your focus for the next year. For instance, you may have applied for many job opportunities in 2021 yet you never got shortlisted for an interview. This is the time to think deeply about why you were not contacted for an interview. This will help you to fix the problem immediately before you start pushing out your next set of applications in 2022.
2. Set New Plans/Resolutions
After reflecting deeply and identifying your shortcomings for the year, now you need to plan how you want to fix these issues going forward. You must make practical resolutions that can be measured at the end of the day. If you realize that you have to up your game in terms of your skills and knowledge in some areas to help you in your job search in the coming year, don’t be hesitant about it.
3. Stay Committed to Your Plans
This stage is also extremely important in your job search. Chantal Petitclerc says “if you have a strong commitment to your dreams and goals. If you wake up every day with a passion to do your job, everything is possible. All your efforts become vain when they are not backed with personal commitment. For example, if you plan that in 2022 you will push out at least a job application once every two weeks but you don’t stick to this plan, there is no way you are going to be shortlisted for an interview.
In conclusion, put it at the back of your mind that nothing good comes easy. So master courage and continue your job hunting in the year ahead. Never get discouraged, keep pushing until you push through. Remember one day is enough to turn your story around.
So keep on, keeping on.
We wish you a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance.
